"Short stories have always been my favorite format rather than long, movie-like graphic novels or lengthy serialized stories like "Rebel." The beauty of a short story lies in its versatility—it can be about anything, allowing for shifts in subject and approach at will. It's all about embracing change, exploring new worlds, and keeping things enjoyable. This particular page holds a special place in my heart due to its subject matter and execution and because it features a live self-portrait of myself at the time of drawing the story.
I was really into this short story and put everything I had at that moment into my enthusiastic career in comics, striving to make it as cool and well-crafted as possible. I used copy machine insertions to give it that rad look, but never to overshadow the line work and my compulsive color schemes. I wanted it to be beautiful above all, and little did I know at the time that I was like a painter, painting from the heart and letting my artistic instincts reign. Please enjoy it, as it is not only an honest reflection of my artistic enthusiasm at the time, but also something I truly enjoyed creating. The fact that I exploded with color is what makes it as much traditional art as any 21st-century painter.
