"Short stories have always been my favorite format rather than long, movie-like graphic novels or lengthy serialized stories like "Rebel." The beauty of a short story lies in its versatility—it can be about anything, allowing for shifts in subject and approach at will. It's all about embracing change, exploring new worlds, and keeping things enjoyable. This particular page holds a special place in my heart due to its subject matter and execution and because it features a live self-portrait of myself at the time of drawing the story.
Once again, aesthetics and contrast played a crucial role here, particularly in the stark contrast between worlds. I aimed for an epic neoclassical story where the gods are involved, allowing myself the excuse to employ engraving techniques. It's worth noting that a significant inspiration for my style comes from the classic engravings of centuries past, like Gustave Doré. My story was inspired by a mystical version of Doré's Dante's Inferno. What can I say? I love this stuff, and there's passion on this page.
