"Short stories have always been my favorite format rather than long, movie-like graphic novels or lengthy serialized stories like "Rebel." The beauty of a short story lies in its versatility—it can be about anything, allowing for shifts in subject and approach at will. It's all about embracing change, exploring new worlds, and keeping things enjoyable. This particular page holds a special place in my heart due to its subject matter and execution and because it features a live self-portrait of myself at the time of drawing the story.
After the "fog of war" clears, Alice in Wonderland, or more appropriately, a Moebius-inspired fantasy world appears to contrast with the dread of war, leading to the juxtaposition of the spiritual dread that war brings to the condition of men on earth—the human condition and all its contradictions within. I've always been drawn to the war theme because of its aesthetics and the gravity of the stories within. However, I've never drawn a story or designed a character that glorified it. I appreciate both aspects, reflecting the duality of humankind, with me being just one of them.
