"Rebel" remains one of my most acclaimed works, riding the wave of early '80s cinematic trends like "The Road Warrior," "Escape from New York," and the car culture of the '50s and '60s in the USA. The post-apocalyptic theme has always been a favorite of mine. Originally written in 1984 (when 1984 was still the future, long before Y2K and the new millennium), the story unintentionally foreshadowed future events like 9/11, with the fictional depiction of the Twin Towers falling a year before the tragic event occurred. Living in Brooklyn at the time, my artwork was raw and inspired by the streets. Beyond its historical implications and its representation of comic book trends during the golden age of comics, the work speaks for itself.
