Generation Zero: The Connection Cover (Episode #02)

By Pepe Moreno 1983

Generation Zero: Published by Marvel Comics on Epic Magazine in 1983 (?) Graphic novel by DC Comics 1991.

“Generation Zero" is a classic in its own right, shaped by both time and circumstance. Originally conceived as a serialized episode for the new Epic Magazine, it was meant to capture the European trends of Métal Hurlant and other famous artists and storytellers from the golden age of comics in the '80s. I came from Europe, bringing with me a European style that was distinct from the American superhero comics. America was my new world, and I wanted to create something that felt like a real-life, movie-like adventure while setting a new aesthetic. I guess that I came to America to make movies but on paper

I was fortunate to enjoy a great relationship with my all-time favorite editor, Archie Goodwin. Archie was a writer who appreciated the post-apocalyptic story I proposed, which I named Generation Zero or Gen Z—decades before the concept of Gen Z became mainstream. No AI back then, so Archie helped craft the written story and dialogue. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Artistically speaking, Generation Zero stands out as one of my most colorful and vibrant works. The original pieces remain as fresh today as the day they were painted—the colors haven't faded a bit since then. While it's not for me to judge, I can say that the original pages are just as bright and exciting as when I first painted them with my bare hands.

Limited edition, original reproduction Glicee Museum-Quality Print. Available framed or unframed, original size (16x20), and overblown poster size (20x30).
